Construction is underway at the site of a $9 million multicourt gymnasium at Christian Center School in Hayden, says Jenny Stark, director of operations at the school.

Coeur d’Alene-based Young Construction Group of Idaho Inc. is the contractor, and the Coeur d’Alene office of California-based Everson Powell Architecture & Design Inc. designed the development. Hayden-based Hoit Engineering Inc. is providing structural engineering services, Stark says.

Christian Center School Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides private faith-based schooling for pre-K students and K-12. The new two-story gymnasium is rising on the northwest corner of the campus at 3639 W. Prairie.

The school launched The Legacy Project to raise funds for the new gym.

At 30,500 square feet in size, the sports facility will feature a collegiate-style sunken gymnasium, a double-court configuration that allows room for two basketball games to be played simultaneously. Other planned spaces include a fitness and training center, four full-size locker rooms, and a large multipurpose commons area with concessions, Stark says.

The gymnasium will function as a regional hub for ministry, mentorship, and leadership once the development is completed, she says, noting that an expected timeline for completion is unavailable. Once open, the space will have the capacity to hold 800 attendees at games, tournaments, and community events, she says.

Established in 1979, Christian Center School has outgrown its current facilities. Students currently share an undersized multipurpose room for physical education, athletics, performances, and events.

In 2025, Christian Center School purchased 5 acres of neighboring land from Living Hope Church, which operates a worship space on the same property as the school, she says.
