Spokane-based National Color Graphics Inc. is the first commercial printer in the U.S. to install the Fujifilm Revoria Press PC2120, an advanced digital printing system designed to expand color capabilities, automate production, and improve efficiency.

The family-owned company installed the new equipment in August, says John Treppiedi, production manager at National Color Graphics.

The press falls within a $150,000 to $250,000 price range depending on equipment selection, says Andrew Gunn, director of product marketing and digital solutions for Fujifilm North America Corp., Business Innovation Division.

Treppiedi declines to disclose the exact price of the National Color Graphics purchase.

National Color Graphics had no plans to upgrade its existing equipment, but a demonstration at a Fujifilm trade show in Chicago highlighted opportunities to improve workflows and reduce production interruptions, Treppiedi says.

The machine incorporates specialty green and pink toners alongside traditional printing colors, allowing it to reproduce 93% of the Pantone Formula Guide's solid coated color library, he explains. The expanded capabilities enable printed materials to more closely resemble colors displayed on digital screens.

"We can get closer to a true RGB print than ever before," Treppiedi says.

The machine also incorporates automated quality-control technology that monitors print consistency, identifies potential defects, and reduces manual adjustments, he explains.

Capable of producing up to 120 pages per minute, the press is particularly valuable for smaller commercial printing jobs, improving the efficiency and cost effectiveness of digital production. The company also purchased additional equipment to expand finishing capabilities for the machine, he adds.

National Color Graphics serves commercial and institutional clients, including local governments, Avista Corp., nonprofit organizations, and regional universities.

Looking ahead, the company — founded in 1970 and operating at 25 W. Boone — will introduce its expanded color capabilities to regional graphic designers and commercial customers.
