Crafted Beauty medical spa proves popular downtown

Melissa Berg, a licensed registered nurse, has opened Crafted Beauty, a medical aesthetic and cosmetic spa, in a first-floor suite in the Cutter Tower, at 510 W. Riverside.

The business operates in 2,800 square feet of space and has access to another 1,000 square feet if necessary, says Ryan Berg of his wife’s business. It employs seven people in addition to Melissa: two registered nurses, two aestheticians, a medical assistant, and a pair of administrative assistants.

The medical spa offers injection treatments, facials, and hydra-facial treatments, which involve removing dead skin cells.

Spa staff also performs microneedling, a procedure that uses a dermaroller with tiny needles rolled across the face to generate new skin collagen.

Berg, acting as the spokesman for his busy wife and her business, says Crafted Beauty booked more than 400 appointments on Dec. 13, the first day of business. The spa’s Instagram page already has more than 6,600 followers.

“She and the staff have been busy ever since,” Ryan says.

During her stint as a nurse at a local hospital, Melissa developed an interest in the use of cosmetic treatments, such as Botox and injectable dermal fillers, he says.

Demand for service has increased, and Melissa already is looking to hire two more aestheticians and another administrative assistant.

Crafted Beauty’s hours of operation are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ryan says the spa will add hours on Saturday to accommodate demands.
