Seattle-based Cascade Columbia Distribution Co. plans to build a 74,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility on the West Plains, according to conditional-use permit information on file with the city of Airway Heights.

A representative of the company couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

Cascade is a chemical servicing company that specializes in supplying chemicals and related equipment to the aerospace, electronics, food manufacturing, metal plating, and water treatment industries.

The project is described as including a 40-foot high, 74,000-square-foot warehouse, chemical mixing, and distribution facility with outdoor chemical storage on the permit application. Also included in the project description is just under 140 parking stalls.

No construction value is listed.

The facility is planned to be located on just over 10 acres of vacant land on the northeast corner of Russell Street and McFarlane Road, in Airway Heights.

Spokane-based Prime One Properties LLC owns the parcel, according the county assessor’s records. Prime One purchased the 27-acre property in April 2018 for $4 million.

Simpson Engineers Inc., of Spokane Valley, is providing engineering services for the project, which is being designed by Labar Architecture Inc., of Spokane.

Representatives of both of those companies couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

Cascade Columbia operates a Spokane Valley stocking facility, which is located in the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, at 3808 N. Sullivan Road. The company also has a distribution center in Sherwood, Oregon.

Cascade Columbia Distribution was founded in 1926 in Seattle as Cascade Chemical. It was purchased by Bill Code in 1972 who then sold the company to his sons, Robert and James Code, in 1998.
