Gamers Haven, a tabletop hobby and gaming store located at 2114 N. Pines Road, in Spokane Valley, plans to relocate this fall to a newly remodeled space at 1403 W. Broadway, in downtown Spokane.

Store owner Bob Kelly says he’s one of three partners in Broadway 1403 LLC., the entity that’s working to remodel the building to host Gamers Haven and several other new businesses. 

“Chris Skinner and I have been business partners in Gamers Haven for a long time, and our third partner, Monty Kindley, is a friend who also was looking for a career change,” says Kelly. “We had this idea of expanding to a larger, more centrally located building where we could try out a restaurant and bar concept and invite some other small businesses to share the space.”

Kelly says the group acquired the two-story, 5,500-square-foot building just north of the Kendall Yards neighborhood last March and has been working to remodel both floors.

“Prior to us, the building was used as law offices, but it’s been used for many different things over the years,” he says.

HDG Architecture designed the project, and Kelly says he and Monty Kindley are doing the majority of the remodeling work, with some help from local subcontractors. 

“The first-floor space will accommodate Gamers Haven and a new Prohibition-era restaurant and bar called Mythos,” he says. “The second floor will have a community space where gamers can play tabletop games and we’ll also have some additional space for two smaller businesses: a tattoo parlor and a barber shop.”

Kelly says Mythos restaurant and bar will focus on craft cocktails and high-end bar food.

“We want it to be a smaller menu with some great appetizers and smaller meals that appeal to gaming types,” he says. “Gamers Haven will be keeping its current five employees, and Mythos will probably have around 12 employees.”

As for the rest of the building’s tenants, Kelly says the focus also is to appeal to the gaming community.

“Being in the Valley for so many years, we’re just a bit too far out of the way for a lot of people,” he says. “This location gives us the chance to be a kind of one-stop-shop for all the things gamers love: a place to play that serves good food and drinks, and a nearby spot to get a tattoo or a cool haircut.”
