Cycling gym opens on Monroe

Spincity LLC is a new cycling gym that opened early this month at 1215 N. Monroe.

Owner Jared Mueller says the business occupies an 1,800-square-foot space that previously housed Don Juan’s Tailoring & Formal Wearhouse LLC.

“I remodeled the space through my construction company, Precision Woodwork & Remodel,” says Mueller. “We have about 20 bikes now, but we have room for five more if needed.”

Mueller, a Spokane native, says he came up with the idea for the business while attending a spin class at another local gym.

“I felt like I could create something similar that focused on just cycling, that would appeal more to people who need a quick workout but might feel too self-conscious to bike at a larger gym,” he says. “Our space is dark but with lots of lights and music, so you tend to just have fun and forget you’re working out.”

Mueller says the gym offers 24 indoor classes a week, that each last about 45 minutes. First-time visitors can try one session for free, and future drop-in classes are $15 each.

“We offer a five-class package for $65, a 10-class package for $100, and a monthly unlimited package for $125,” he says. “We run everything through the Mind and Body app for scheduling and purchases. And with each class, an instructor is there to help fit you to a bike and get you started.”

Muller says Spin City opened June 3 and has a total of seven employees, including the manager.

“We’re just getting started now, but eventually, we hope to add some yoga classes and a beverage bar that would serve Lotus energy drinks,” he says. “Our main goal is to be a welcoming place for everyone, no matter their age or skill level.”
