Atomic Threads to open store along Monroe

Atomic Threads Clothing Boutique, a pinup and rockabilly clothing business, will move to its first storefront location this fall at 1925 N. Monroe.

The business, which is co-owned by Tina Bradvold and her husband Michael, started last April.

“I’ve been a pinup photographer for several years now, and I just got tired of not having any selection of that style of clothing here,” says Bradvold.

Bradvold says she currently operates the business from her home, various booths at local street fairs and car shows, and an online store.

“We have wide variety of pinup- and rockabilly-style clothing for men and women in all sizes,” she says. “That was a big thing for me, because I wanted to make sure the clothing we carry is available to all shapes and sizes.”

The boutique also carries shoes, accessories, and handbags.

Bradvold says the new shop on Monroe Street occupies 1,400 square feet of retail space that includes an open showroom and four additional rooms around its perimeter.

“One will be a changing room, and one will be storage and office space,” she says. “The others will be for shoes and accessories, and lingerie.”

Bradvold and her husband will be the shop’s only employees, although they’re also considering hiring a nail technician to provide an additional service for customers.

The two currently are working to remodel the space and hope to be ready to open by Oct. 6.
