Wonder Spokane LLC has inked the Spokane office of Parametrix Inc. engineering firm as its first tenant for the recently renovated, former Wonder Bread Bakery building—now called the Wonder Building—on the periphery of downtown Spokane.

Roger Flint, chief operating officer with Parametrix, says the company has agreed to lease about 8,000 square feet of space at the eastern end of the second floor of the three-story building, which is located at 821 W. Mallon and has a total of about 112,000 square feet of floor space. The company plans to move into its new space in December.

Based in western Washington with a dozen offices in five states,  Parametrix currently operates its Spokane office out of the Taylor Building at 106 W. Mission, about a mile northeast of the Wonder Building.

Parametrix established a presence in the Inland Northwest in May 2016 when it merged with Taylor Engineering Inc. Flint says the company currently has about 40 employees at its office here.

Wonder Spokane, led by Denver-area developer Peter Mounsey, redeveloped the long-shuttered manufacturing building to include about 100,000 square feet of office space and a room for a food market in a $12 million project that was substantially completed recently.

Yost Gallagher Construction, of Spokane, was the contractor on the project, and Wolfe Architectural Group PS, also of Spokane, designed it. Parametrix served as the civil engineer on the building’s redevelopment.

Chris Bell, of Spokane-based NAI Black, and Mike Sharapata and John Ruskin, of Jones Land LaSalle Inc., represented the landlord in the lease. Mike Livingston, of Spokane’s Kiemle Hagood, and Eric Postle, of Seattle-based Washington Partners, represented Parametrix
