Hot Toddy's Coffee opening brewhouse

Hot Toddy’s Coffee owners Ricky and Kandice Krieger say next month they plan to open a new brewhouse and café called 291 Brewhouse at 5978 Highway 291, in Nine Mile Falls.

Kandice Krieger says she and her husband purchased their first Hot Toddy’s coffee stand, formerly known as Suncrest Gourmet Coffee, at that same location in 2007.

“But we always hoped to one day purchase the land the coffee stand sits on, along with the old gas station behind it, and eventually expand that into a sit-down coffee shop,” she says.

In 2013, the Kriegers purchased their second Hot Toddy’s Coffee stand at 101 W. Francis and followed that with the purchase of a mobile coffee trailer called Hot Toddy’s Energy Bar.

Krieger says they finally were able to purchase the 1,600-square-foot former gas station building, located just behind their current Nine Mile Falls Hot Toddy’s drive-thru stand, last year and have since been working to remodel it.

“We’ll be keeping the drive-thru stand, but the brewhouse allows us the opportunity for customers to sit and stay awhile,” she says.

Krieger says 291 Brewhouse will offer a selection of locally brewed beer and wine and a fresh menu, including farm-to-table salads, panini sandwiches, acai bowls, locally made ice cream, and more.

She says the building features three glass garage doors that can open to create an indoor/outdoor atmosphere, and a large outdoor patio space for additional seating.

Krieger says she plans to hire about 10 new employees to help operate the 291 Brewhouse, which currently is scheduled to open May 25.
