Apartment building slated neighboring Kendall Yards

$2.8 million, 27-unit site is north of urban village

April 27, 2017

A $2.8 million, 27-unit apartment building is planned in the West Central neighborhood, just north of the big Kendall Yards urban village development site, building permit application information on file with the city of Spokane shows.

The three-story, 30,700-square-foot College Avenue Apartments building will be erected at 1318 W. College, the permit application says.

Spokane-based Hurtado|Hissong Design Group LLC, which does business as HDG Architecture, designed the project and is seeking the permit. HDG Architecture couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

State tax records show property ownership group Yu & Chiang LLC, of Spokane, acquired the 0.7-acre project site at the northeast corner of College Avenue and Cedar Street in November for $350,000.

Vandervert Construction Inc., of Spokane, is the contractor on the project, and the Spokane office of Seattle-based DCI Engineers Inc. is providing engineering services.

The project tentatively is scheduled to start in coming days, pending approval of the application. It’s expected to be completed this summer.

Access to the property will be via driveways connecting to College Avenue and Cedar Street, plans show.
