Yoke's agrees to buy Trading Co. stores

Acquisition to be completed in September

July 11, 2016
Staff Report

Spokane Valley-based grocery-store chain Yoke’s Foods Inc. said it has agreed to buy the four Trading Co. Stores supermarkets from Bonner Foods Inc., of Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

The stores are located in southwest Spokane, Spokane Valley, Cheney, and Post Falls.

The acquisition is scheduled to be completed in September, and once finalized, Yoke’s will have a total of 17 stores in Eastern Washington, Central Washington, and North Idaho.

“We look forward to bringing Yoke’s unique offerings to the communities served by the Trading Company stores,” Yoke’s President and CEO John Bole said in a press release.

Yoke’s said it’s inviting current Trading Co. Stores employees to apply for positions. The company plans to hold two large job fairs this summer, the first being Wednesday, July 13, at its Liberty Lake store.

Trading Co. was founded in 1994 as an independent grocery retailer and co-owned by Paul Matejovsky and Gary Morgan.
