Summit Rehabilitation opens its third physical therapy clinic here

Practice establishes office in new North Side building

June 30, 2016
Mike McLean

Spokane-based physical therapy practice Summit Rehabilitation Associates PLLC has opened a new clinic on the North Side, its third Spokane-area location.

The clinic, which is outfitted with state-of-the-art physical and occupational therapy equipment, occupies 3,800 square feet of ground-floor space in the new multitenant North Nevada Professional Building, at 9911 N. Nevada, says Bri Lusk, Summit’s marketing director.

“We’re expanding to the north, because we want to be able to treat all patients in whatever area of town they live,” Lusk says.

Physical rehabilitation services available at the clinic also include work-injury management programs, functional capacity evaluations, hand therapy, ergonomics support, assistive technology, and fall prevention.

Lusk says Summit also offers vestibular rehabilitation, for treating people with vertigo and certain balance problems.

Zach Strandy, a principal in the practice, is the primary therapist at the North Side clinic.

Strandy holds a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Eastern Washington University and is a certified functional capacity evaluator. He provides evaluations and treatment of musculoskeletal problems through personalized therapeutic exercise programs and manual therapy techniques, Lusk says.

Strandy is joined at the north clinic by Summit occupational therapists Robert Hoctor and Andy Peaker, she says.

Occupational therapists perform assessments of functional capabilities of clients and treat orthopedic and neurological impairments. They also teach safe methods to perform activities at work or home, including alternative methods or equipment to assist in mobility, dexterity, and performance.

Lusk says additional therapists and support staff will be brought in as the North Side patient base grows.

Summit operates two other clinics. One clinic is downtown, at 407 E. Second, and the other is in the Valley, at 1101 N. Argonne Road.
