Recording studio to move downtown

Amplified Wax to leave Garland District by 2016

July 2, 2015
Mike McLean

Amplified Wax LLC, a Spokane recording studio, has bought a 2,400-square-foot, single-story commercial structure at 314 E. Pacific, and plans to move there from smaller, leased quarters in December or January, says Mandy Hill, who co-owns the business with her husband Jimmy.

The business was founded in 2007 and has operated the last four years at its current location at 920 W. Garland.

“We’re going to move out of the Garland District to a space that’s bigger and better for live recordings,” Hill says. “Business is growing, and it’s always been Jim’s dream to have a larger live room for better acoustics and reverb in its natural form.”

Hill, who handles the graphic design and promotional products, says her side of the business is growing as well. Amplified Wax has no other employees, she says.

The Pacific Avenue location will be closer to downtown music venues where it will be more easily accessible to working musicians, Hill says.

“We’ll own rather than lease,” she says. “That’s always a bonus.”

Spokane com-mercial real estate agents, James S. Black III, of NAI Black, and Chris Bornhoft, of Windermere/Manito Commercial, negotiated the property transaction.

Office

Herb Robinson Institute Inc., which does business as Tapio Counseling, has leased 300 square feet of office space at 1010 N. Normandie and has moved there from 3625 E. Sprague. Sharon Reynolds and Doug Byrd, both of Byrd Real Estate Group LLC, and Mike King, of NAI Black, handled the transaction.

Retail & Service

Pinot’s Palette, the Spokane franchisee of the Houston-based sip-and-paint chain of the same name, has leased 1,400 square feet of space at 728 N. Fourth, in Coeur d’Alene, and plans to open a second studio there in September. Craig Hunter and Rob Kannapien, both of Coldwell Banker Commercial Schneidmiller Realty, and Chris Schreiber, of Kiemle & Hagood Co., handled the transaction.

Bill and Sue Tillie, owners of Vintage V-Twin LLC, a motorcycle build, service, and repair shop, have bought a 4,800-square-foot shop building formerly occupied by Harvey’s Auto Sales, at 1635 E. Francis, and has moved there from smaller quarters at 7218 N. Market. Drew Ulrick, of NAI Black, handled the transaction.
