Wurth Louis & Co. set to open Spokane Valley store

Equipment store chain to be its first in INW

May 21, 2015

Wurth Louis & Co., an international distributor of woodworking, supplies, accessories and equipment supplies whose U.S. operations are based in Brea, Calif., plans to open a retail store in Spokane Valley.

Kathy Greene, Brea-based director of marketing and purchasing for Wurth Louis, says the company has leased 5,000 square feet of space at 9711 E. Knox and the store is scheduled to open there June 4.

To start, Greene says, the company will have four employees and two outside sales representatives.

“We distribute within the woodworking industry—laminate, machinery, fasteners. We don’t sell the actual wood,” Green says.

The store’s grand opening will feature representatives from 18 different vendors who will be there to meet with local businesses and individual customers.

The Spokane Valley store will be Wurth Louis’ second in Washington state. It also operates a 40,000-square-foot superstore in Kent, Green says.

“We clearly recognized there is a market for us in Spokane,” she says. “I think that’s something that area has needed for a while.”

Louis & Co. was founded in 1975. In 1997, it was purchased by The Wurth Group, based in Germany, and became Wurth Louis & Co.

Wurth Louis is a provider of surfacing, hardware, shop supply, woodworking machinery and coating products. Wurth Louis says its customers include cabinetmakers, woodworkers, architects, and designers, and that it has 20 locations around the Western United States.
