Spokane Industries changes hands

Tenold brothers spin off Spokane Stainless Technologies

January 12, 2022
Linn Parish

Spokane Industries Inc. owners Greg and Tyrus Tenold have sold the foundry business and spun off its stainless products division into a new company, Spokane Stainless Technologies Inc.

The new owners of Spokane Industries, Pat and Lisa Turner, are moving to Spokane from Tucson, Arizona, to manage the company’s two foundry operations, located in about 180,000 square feet of space in multiple buildings at the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, at 3808 N. Sullivan, in Spokane Valley.

The Tenold brothers and Turners completed the transaction on Jan. 3, and the Turners have retained Spokane Industries’ workforce, which stands at roughly 110 people, Tyrus Tenold says.

Tenold calls Pat Turner a “perfect fit” due to international expertise in mining and metallurgy. Turner is the former president North American operations for FLSmidth & Co., a multinational engineering company based in Denmark. Previously, he had served as president of Krebs, a company that makes slurry pumps and other products that FLSmidth later acquired.

Spokane Stainless Technologies employs about 30 people and occupies about 60,000 square feet of space at the industrial park. The stainless-products fabrication company makes tanks for wine makers, ground-support fuel systems for aircraft, and other pressure vessels. Tyrus Tenold says he is serving as the company’s president, and Greg is its chairman. Nate Batson is the new company’s general manager.

Spokane Industries was founded as Spokane Steel Foundry in 1952 by the late John C. Tenold, father of Greg and Tyrus. The business has been located in the Spokane Business & Industrial Park since 1965.
