5.11 Tactical to open store in Spokane Valley

California apparel brand new to Washington state

November 18, 2021
Virginia Thomas

California-based apparel brand 5.11 Tactical is opening a retail location in Spokane Valley, its first in Washington state.

5.11 Tactical Inc. has leased a space in the East Sprague Center, at 4808 E. Sprague, about a half-mile west of the Costco Wholesale Corp. store along Sprague. The building also is occupied by T-Mobile and Teacher’s World locations.

Aaron Browning, 5.11’s Irvine, California-based director of development, says in an email that the retailer offers apparel, footwear, and gear, such as outerwear, fitness apparel, boots, gloves, and flashlights. The brand primarily caters to the customers who are hunters, enjoy outdoor recreation, or are in the military.

“This is a strategic location for 5.11 as the company enters into Washington state,” Browning says. “We have a very strong customer following in the region, and this location was selected to service the Eastern Washington-northern Idaho market.”

5.11 Tactical is expected to open in March, Browning says. He says the number of employees who will work at the store has yet to be determined.

The company is working to remodel the space, including updating restrooms, fitting rooms, mechanical systems, flooring, and paint. A contractor hasn’t been selected to perform the work yet, he says. Upgrades to the space were designed by San Diego, California-based Retail Amp Design.

By the end of 2021, 5.11 Tactical will have 87 total retail locations, Browning says.

He declines to disclose the company’s annual revenue.

5.11 Tactical was founded in 2003.
