Brews on Washington opens downtown
Spokane Brews LLC, which does business as Brews on Washington, has opened in a 750-square-foot leased space at 7 S. Washington, in downtown Spokane.
The business is a new endeavor for owners Brett and Katie Anderson. Brews has nine employees, including general manager Allison Sattin and the Andersons. The startup cost for the business was around $20,000, says Katie Anderson. She declines to disclose renovation costs.
The establishment serves lunch, dinner, and appetizers. It carries specialty beers and has an all-Washington wine list. Petit Chat Village Bakery, of Spokane, provides pastries and bread.
The bar has started theme nights that include live music on Mondays, ladies night on Wednesdays, and trivia Thursdays.
Before opening Brews, the Andersons went to Europe to research different types of coffee, beer, and pubs.
Photography studio opens on North Side
Heidi Hahn has opened Delightful Images, a home-based photography studio, at 824 W. Kiernan, on Spokane's North Side.
Hahn and her husband, Timothy, co-own the business and are remodeling a 400-square-foot garage for the studio.
The Hahns are the only employees at Delightful Images, and Heidi Hahn does most of the photography, hiring other photographers on occasion to help her with larger events.
Hahn has been a photographer since 2005 and focuses her work on maternity, infant, children, and family portraits, both in the studio and on location.
The couple moved to Spokane from Lynchburg, Va., in October 2010.
Goodman CPA moves in Rock Pointe complex
Goodman CPA PS, of Spokane, has moved to an 850-square-foot leased space in the One Rock Pointe building, at 121 N. Washington, from a sub-leased 200-square-foot space in the Rock Pointe Tower, at 316 W. Boone.
"Rock Pointe Corporate Center has nice amenities and is a great location to grow my business," owner Connie Goodman says.
Goodman has owned the certified public accounting firm since October 2009. The firm has two part-time employees, she says. In all, she has worked in the public accounting industry for almost 20 years and specializes in working with small, medium-sized, and family-owned businesses.
Wendy Cossette, of Cossette Interior Design, redesigned the firm's new space.
Online marketing firm certified by Google
Spokane-based Internet marketing company Unleashed Online Marketing LLC says search-engine giant Google Inc. has named it as a Google AdWords Certified Partner.
Through the relationship, Unleashed says, Google will promote it to work with businesses to support their online campaigns. It says the designation also gives it the potential to receive client referrals from Google for campaign-management services.
The company leases 1,300 square feet of space in the Central Point Professional Building, at 1106 N. Washington, north of downtown Spokane, and says it plans to lease an additional 1,000 square feet to support its growth.
"Quality Internet marketing helps Spokane-area businesses compete on a global stage, and can bring more dollars and jobs to the region," Unleashed founder Chris Reilly asserts.
Reilly started Unleashed in 2009 and says it now has five full-time employees, including him. The company hopes to fill an additional 12 positions in the next year, he says.
Hissong Design Group, of Spokane, is in charge of remodeling the office.
Cd'A architect moves to Sherman Avenue
Element Architecture PLLC, of Coeur d'Alene, has moved to an office on Sherman Avenue, east of downtown Coeur d'Alene.
The firm is located at 1119 E. Sherman, where it sublets 180 square feet of space from Tran Creative, of Coeur d'Alene, a visual-communication and graphic-design studio, which shares the same address.
Ryan Johnson, owner and sole architect at Element, says the firm offers residential, commercial and institutional architecture services, specializing in sustainable design, and that he also does contract drafting.
Johnson opened the firm in January and operated it out of a home office before moving in late May to the one-story office building on Sherman. Johnson formerly worked for architectural firms in Coeur d'Alene and Missoula, Mont.
Gallery, framing shop moves to bigger space
Pacific Flyway Gallery & Holly's Framing, of Spokane, has moved to a two-story, 6,400-square-foot space at 409 S. Dishman-Mica, in Spokane Valley, from a smaller space at 313 E. Sprague.
Gallery owners Charles and Holly Swanson are doing all of the remodeling themselves, including painting and flooring.
The Swansons decided to upgrade to a larger space so they'd have sufficient room for framing production and to handle cleaning and restoration of art and frames, such as from fire and flood damage, Charles Swanson says. They currently are the company's only full-time employees.
A framing production facility will be located on the first floor of their new space, and an art gallery will be on the second floor. The gallery features sporting art, duck stamps, limited-edition pieces, regional artist work, original paintings, and jewelry. The frame shop offers different types of framing, full restoration and cleaning services of art and frames, and corporate and volume jobs.
Pacific Flyway Gallery was started in 1985 by Michael Cochrane, in the Paulsen Center, at 421 W. Riverside downtown. Holly Swanson began working for Cochrane in 1990, Charles Swanson says.
She has been a certified picture framer since 1989.
In 2000, Holly Swanson bought the gallery from Cochrane and moved it to 313 E. Sprague for free parking and more framing space, Charles Swanson says.
