KidSmile Dental to move in '12 into part of former Coldwell Banker offices

July 14, 2011
Treva Lind

Spokane Valley children's dentist Joel Blake has bought the 11,000-square-foot, former Coldwell Banker Tomlinson building, at 721 N. Pines, for $1 million and says he plans a $750,000 interior remodel of the structure.

Black says he expects major renovation work to begin there next month and to move his dental practice—J. Blake DMD PS, which does business as KidSmile Dental—there next spring or summer.

KidSmile currently is leasing space at 12615 E. Mission and has 12 employees.

Blake says the remodel of the building will include installing an elevator and fire sprinklers. The dental practice will take about 6,000 square feet of the main floor and a partial basement. Blake plans to lease out the rest of the office space there.

One tenant already is secured, Family Essentials, which is a family counseling office expected to move this month into about an 800-square-foot space there. Other leases are pending, he says.

McCloskey Construction Inc., of Spokane, is the contractor for the remodeling project. Denny Christensen & Associates, of Spokane, is the architect.

Mark McLees, of NAI Black, is the purchasing agent who assisted Blake in buying the building, and he also is handling the leasing of tenant space in the building.
