M.J. Takisaki relocates its offices here to handle added division

July 2, 2009
Jeanne Gustafson

M.J. Takisaki Inc., a Seattle-based construction company, has moved its branch office here to a larger leased space in Spokane Valley, at 1620 N. Mamer Road.

Hal Ophus, the company's construction manager here, says the office had outgrown its previous Spokane Valley location, at 505 N. Argonne, particularly since it started up a new division named Fairway Restoration about six months ago and tripled its staff here.

"We needed to expand. We outgrew our space because of the new division," Ophus says.

Before the move, the company was operating in a small space with only a couple of offices. In its new location, it has about half a dozen offices, as well as a warehouse and a shop in a total of about 4,400 square feet of space.

Ophus says M.J. Takisaki has operated an office here for about six years, doing largely public works and government construction projects. Now, with the addition of Fairway Restoration, which does more commercial and insurance work, the company has more than 15 employees here, up from just five Spokane-based employees previously, Ophus says.

The company likely will add more employees over time, Ophus says.

James S. Black III, of NAI Black, and Sam Morse, of Cantu Commercial Properties LLC, handled the lease.
