Bank of America tower renovations are underway

Permits to improve interior total $1.75M

The tallest building in Spokane has several ongoing construction projects that will improve multiple tenant spaces inside the 42-year-old tower.

Over the last 16 months, the Bank of America Financial Center, at 601 W. Riverside, has had seven commercial building remodel projects valued over $1.75 million, according to permit information on file with the city of Spokane.

Recently, Spokane-based BLVD Coffee Co. has opened a second location in the lobby of the financial center.

Vanessa Abrahamson, owner of BLVD, says the 200-square-foot café space took about three months to renovate. She says tenant improvements in the lobby include new lighting, countertops, cabinets, and the installation of a pergola. The Native American- and woman-owned business has been operating in the lobby since March 6.

“We like the downtown scene, and being in the building is a nice change of pace,” says Abrahamson.

Permit data shows the other tenant improvement projects will update walls, floors, ceilings, and other fixtures on the sixth, ninth, 17th, and 19th floors.

The building is owned by Surrey, British Columbia-based real estate company Redstone Spokane I LLC, which operates under the Redstone Group of Cos. The company purchased the 1.26-acre site and building for $47.7 million in 2018, as previously reported by the Journal.

Representatives of Redstone Group decline to comment on the improvements.

The 20-story Class A office building located in Spokane’s central business district has a total of 334,800 square feet of leasable space. A neighboring eight-story covered parking structure is connected to the tower with a pedestrian skybridge across Sprague Avenue.
