Aequus Sports hopes to raise $15M

USL Spokane's ownership group seeks funds for new training facility, multifamily project

May 29, 2025

Aequus Sports LLC, which owns USL Spokane, hopes to raise $15 million in funding, a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission shows.

Ryan Harnetiaux, managing partner of Aequus, says the funding would go toward construction of a new off-site training facility and a multifamily housing project, among the other plans.

“As the club continues to grow, our needs grow,” he says. “One Spokane Stadium is our home, and it's where we primarily train, but that is proving to be a very busy venue, and we want to be able to have an alternative, especially when there's inclement weather.”

USL Spokane operates two soccer teams: Spokane Zephyr FC, the women’s Division One USL Super League team; and Spokane Velocity FC, the men’s USL League One team.

The housing project, which would be located next to the envisioned training facility, will include between 120 and 150 market-rate units, some of which might be used by athletes from the USL Spokane teams. As envisioned, the housing also would be available to the public.

Harnetiaux declines to disclose the exact location of the training facility and adjacent multifamily project but says they will be located in Spokane County. He hopes to have both projects completed by Jan. 1, 2027.

Currently, USL Spokane provides furnished housing for about two-thirds of its players through several different apartment communities the organization has relationships with. The other third of its athletes are provided a stipend and choose their own place to live, Harnetiaux says.

The current funding round is scheduled to close this summer.
