Xfinity opens store in Spokane Valley, remodels North Side location

Company will hire 11 employees to be based at Evergreen Crossing

July 16, 2020

Comcast Corp. has opened a new Xfinity retail store in Spokane Valley and temporarily has closed its Division Street store while that space is being remodeled.

The Spokane Valley store is located in the Evergreen Crossing Shopping Center, at 13826 E. Indiana. The 4,000-square-foot retail store will be open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

The Spokane store, at 4423 N. Division, closed for remodeling on July 7.

Kristen Ritchie, senior director of Xfinity retail for Comcast’s Washington operations, says the company hopes to reopen the remodeled Division store by Sept. 22.

“We purchased the building next door, so we’re knocking out that wall, and essentially the whole space there will become an Xfinity retail store,” Ritchie says.

The space is currently about 2,100 square feet. When the remodel is complete, the Division store will occupy about 3,500 square feet.

The extra space is needed to keep up with increasing customer volumes, Ritchie asserts.

“It will allow for more customers to be helped in a more timely manner, but also give that new, sleek look and feel that we’re really going for as we continue to evolve into a true retail space,” Ritchie says.

The contractor for both the Spokane Valley and the north Spokane store-improvement projects is Spokane-based Yost Gallagher Construction LLC. Comcast’s in-house team designed the interiors of both stores.

Ritchie declines to disclose the cost of the work on the Spokane Valley and Division stores but says that they’re part of a $4 million investment in Xfinity’s Washington stores.

Ritchie says Xfinity is hiring 11 employees to fill positions at the Spokane Valley store, including a store manager, two assistant managers, and eight representative roles. Currently, the Spokane Valley store is staffed by all 18 employees from the Division location.

“We’re taking advantage of the opportunity to be able to do that complete remodel without any impact to our employees while they’re working,” Ritchie says. “The goal is to take that team back to Division Street, and then we will have a new staff in Spokane Valley.”

Xfinity is a trade name of Comcast Cable Communications LLC, a subsidiary of Philadelphia-based Comcast Corp. Xfinity markets the company’s consumer cable television, internet, telephone, and wireless services.
