A new BECU branch in Liberty Lake will have a similar design to the credit union's branch on Spokane's South Hill, which opened in 2025.
| BECUTwo credit unions — Spokane-based Progressions Credit Union and Boeing Employees’ Credit Union, of Tukwila, Washington — are building new branches in Spokane County.
Progressions Credit Union is planning to construct its third branch at a vacant lot at 19017 E. Appleway, in Spokane Valley. The $4 million project is in the preapplication stage with the city of Spokane Valley.
As envisioned, the branch will be a two-story structure with a basement and include a lobby, offices, conference room, and support spaces for customers, preliminary permit information shows. The work will include other general site improvements.
Spokane-based Fusion Architecture PLLC is the architect on the project, and a general contractor has not been listed on permit information.
Progressions Credit Union purchased the 30,000-square-foot property for $600,000 in 2023, according to tax information on file with Spokane County.
The financial institution operates two existing branches in Spokane — at 2919 E. Mission and 9233 N. Nevada.
Representatives of Progressions Credit Union decline to disclose a construction timeline for the project.
In Liberty Lake, construction of a new BECU branch is underway.
BECU intends to lease space for a new neighborhood financial center at 21807 E. Indiana, says Natalie Hobbs, senior external communications specialist at BECU, in an email to the Journal.
Construction of a 3,000-square-foot branch is expected to begin in May and wrap up in October, Hobbs says. The construction cost is valued at about $650,000.
Frank Family Investment LLC, of Liberty Lake, owns the property, tax information from Spokane County shows. Chapman Homes LLC, of Liberty Lake, is the general contractor, and Seattle-based Wood Studio is the architect, according to a preapplication permit on file with the city of Liberty Lake.
Once the building has been erected, BECU will renovate it to serve as the new branch, Hobbs says. Seattle-based Studio Vie PLLC, which does business as Jane Clark AIA, is designing the renovation project. Design West Engineering Inc., of San Bernardino, California, is providing engineering services.
Six full-time employees will work at the new branch, she says.
The design for the new space is similar to BECU’s most recently completed branch, at 2501 E. 29th, on Spokane’s South Hill. BECU operates four other locations in Spokane County — at 916 N. Division and 9420 N. Newport Highway, in Spokane, and 12111 E. Mission and 615 N. Sullivan Road, in Spokane Valley.
BECU serves almost 34,000 members across Spokane and Kootenai counties with $275 million in deposits, Hobbs says. The credit union has more than 1.5 million members nationwide and a total of $29.4 billion in assets.
