Alien Gear Holsters, a brand of Tedder Industries LLC, was sold to Safariland LLC for $10.3 million as part of a court-supervised bankruptcy auction.
| Matt StephensPost Falls-based firearm holster manufacturer Alien Gear Holsters, a trade name and brand of Tedder Industries LLC, has been purchased by Safariland LLC, of Delaware, for $10.3 million following a court-approved bankruptcy auction, according to filings with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
The acquisition follows the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of Tedder Industries LLC, the Texas-registered parent company of Alien Gear Holsters. Company President Thomas Magrath attributes the filing to an unsustainable capital structure and debt that outweighed the enterprise value of Alien Gear, according to a declaration filed with the court on Dec. 8, 2025.
Court records show Tedder Industries entered Chapter 11 with approximately $20.55 million in outstanding obligations including a $19 million loan and $1.55 million tied to a revolving line of credit.
Houston-based Main Street Capital Corp. holds the majority of Alien Gear's equity interest as a secured lender, filing information shows.
Safariland, an operating brand and subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida-based Cadre Holdings Inc., was chosen as the bidder most beneficial to the debtor and original creditors, filing information shows. The order to approve the sale was signed by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez after an April 1 hearing, and the closing date was scheduled for April 7, according to court documents.
Representatives of Alien Gear, Safariland, and Cadre Holdings did not immediately respond to the Journal's requests for comment.
Alien Gear Holsters operates out of a 70,000-square-foot facility at 4411 W. Riverbend, in Post Falls, and employs 108 personnel, court records show.
"This transaction represents a compelling opportunity to acquire a recognized holster brand with an established direct-to-consumer presence," Cadre Holdings President Brad Williams says in a press release. "Alien Gear brings an experienced team with a customer-first mindset, and we are excited about the attractive business synergies and growth opportunities ahead."
The acquisition of Tedder Industries is the latest in a string of recently announced acquisitions in the Inland Northwest this year, including the acquisitions of Spokane-based Maplewood Software Inc.; Silverlake Automotive, of Coeur d'Alene; Spokane Valley-based Lithograph Reproductions Inc.; Spokane-based Quantum Financial Planning Inc.'s acquisition of Clear Future Financial LLC, of Spokane Valley; and Spokane Valley Screen Printing Inc.
Alien Gear manufactures injection-molded, proprietary holsters and firearm accessories for consumer, law enforcement, military, and security markets, and has developed an international customer base out of its North Idaho operations, which were established in 2013, according to the company's website.
Safariland, founded in 1964, manufactures and supplies life-saving equipment and other specialized gear and protective products. The business is a subsidiary of Cadre Holdings, a global manufacturer and distributor of safety and survivability equipment for first responders, law enforcement, and military members.
"As always, the Cadre operating model will guide our execution, driving continuous improvement across our businesses and reinforcing our market leadership over the long term," Williams says.
