Prairie Falls Golf Club builds $10 million facility

Lodging, entertainment, dining, retail spaces create gathering spot

Post Falls-based Prairie Falls Golf Club is preparing to open a new $10 million, 43,000-square-foot hotel, event, and retail facility this summer that is intended to be a community hub for residents and golfers on the north side of town.

Prairie Falls Golf Club is located at 3200 N. Spokane, in Post Falls.

Head golf professional Joshua Greiner says the club has been operating from a temporary trailer since the course opened in 1998, and visitors and members have been inquiring about adding a proper pro shop and restaurant for about a decade now.

Just over a year ago, new owners Emily and Rob Clark came on board and decided to move forward with plans to update the property, he says.

The Clarks are the general contractors for the club’s improvements through their Post Falls-based company, J Rob Construction LLC. Bernardo Wills, of Spokane, designed the project.

Greiner says Prairie Falls plans to have an official grand opening in early July that will show off the club’s new two-story facility.

The course has 20 employees and will hire about 40 employees once the new facility is open, he says.

Seventeen hotel guest rooms and a 5,000-square-foot indoor event center will occupy the second floor, while a pro shop, restaurant, hotel check-in area, and four commercial spaces will be located on the ground floor.

Three of the four commercial spaces have been leased to Anchored Coffee Co., River City Pizza, and the Lounge Day Spa & Wellness.

Six golf simulator machines will be located inside the new restaurant, dubbed Iron, Wood, & Ice.

Outside of the new building, an additional new event space will be ideal for weddings, Greiner says. Other new amenities include a patio and updated water features on the course, he says.

Prairie Falls is open to the public, but also offers memberships.

Greiner says being able to produce what the golfers and the members of the community have been asking for the past 10 years is exciting for him.

“For a long time, we had (golfers) and community members who kind of showed up but didn’t brag about our golf course,” he says. “That’s really what gets me going is just seeing the excitement that they have, and patiently waiting for it to be finished.”
