Portland-based printer acquires Target Media Northwest

Company to operate as Signature Graphics

August 15, 2019

Signature Graphics Inc., a Portland-based commercial printer, has acquired Target Media Northwest, the Spokane-based commercial printing and mailing services company that publishes Wheel Deals and Nickel Nik publications.

Target Media Northwest was established in 1955 and had been a division of California-based advertising company Target Media Partners. It’s one of the two largest commercial printing companies in the Spokane area, in terms of number of full-time employees, according to data from the Journal’s largest commercial printers list published last October.

The company offers full color heat-set and cold-set web printing and full bindery and mail services.

Signature Graphics completed the acquisition on Aug. 11, according to a press release provided by the company. Target Media’s facility, at 13026 W. McFarlane Road, in Airway Heights, has assumed the Signature Graphics name.

Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

Signature Graphics President and CEO Dan Dutton says in the release, “This acquisition fits perfectly with our core business strategy, and we are absolutely committed to maintaining and enhancing TMNW’s ability to offer the best print and distribution solutions for our customers and prospects in this region.”

According to the release, Signature Graphics plans to retain all of Target Media’s employees in Spokane, which included 35 full-time workers and three part-time positions as of last October.

Dutton says, “We are grateful and excited for the opportunity to extend our print and distribution capabilities directly to the Inland Empire.”

Signature Graphics is a full-service commercial printer that specializes in heat-set and cold-set web printing. Located at 15040 NE Mason in Portland’s Wilkes neighborhood, the company has over 160 employees and distributes to over 2.1 million households in six western states, according to information provided by the company.

The privately held company was established in 1986 and provides services to regional and national clients, state and federal offices, and daily and weekly newspapers.
