Velvet Hammer Boutique planned in Coeur d'Alene

Online clothing store Velvet Hammer Boutique is slated to open a brick-and-mortar shop this summer at 2049 Main, in the Riverstone Village, in Coeur d’Alene.

The online store showcases clothes for women, including blazers, jackets, accessories, and shoes.

At around 2,200 square feet, the shop, leased through Kiemle Hagood Co., plans to have stylists ready to help clients find a wardrobe specifically suited for them, say co-owners and partners Krista and Michael Dickson.

The name Velvet Hammer Boutique stems from Krista’s idea to convey that strength and femininity can coexist.

“Our goal is to inspire women to be firm and strong, but with eloquence and grace,” Krista says.

Since age 15, it has been her dream to own a boutique, she says.

Inspired by their 6-year-old child, the couple also will sell an in-store clothing line called Velvet Dolls.

“Our daughter hates everything we pick out for her,” Krista says. “She’s really eccentric in what she picks out.”

The line will reflect their daughter’s clothing choices with playful and dressy clothing, both for every day and special occasions.

The women’s line will include items sourced from designers and wholesale vendors. Krista says she aims to select styles that will be special to their shop.

“We don’t want to be just another trendy clothing store,” Krista says. “We cater to you and your experience.”
