Spokane Public Schools plans to start work next spring on a $23.4 million addition at Lewis & Clark High School, on the periphery of downtown Spokane. The project will involve adding eight classrooms and a cafeteria and commons area at the west end of the school. The conceptual rendering above shows what the cafeteria-commons area portion of the project might look like. Mark Anderson, associate superintendent with Spokane Public Schools, says the classroom portion of the project will be paid for with funds from a bond measure passed in 2015, and the larger cafeteria addition will be funded through the $495 million bond passed earlier this month. The school district expects to complete the project in summer of 2020, Anderson says.
