Spokane Pediatrics opens on South Hill

Practice employs seven, intends to remain small

October 11, 2018
LeAnn Bjerken

Spokane Pediatrics, a new South Hill pediatric practice, has opened at 315 W. Ninth, near the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital campus.

The practice, which began accepting patients Oct. 1, is co-owned and operated by two Spokane natives, Dr. Kimberly Grandinetti and advanced registered nurse practitioner Kimberly Resleff.

Grandinetti says she’s excited to fulfill her dream of opening a pediatric practice in her hometown.

“I knew I wanted to be a pediatrician since age 8,” she says. “There’s been an influx of new people to this area, and a shortage of pediatric physicians for new patients, and I feel fortunate that it happened to be the right time for me to pursue this opportunity.”

Grandinetti says the practice has five employees and occupies a 4,500-square-foot space, including nine examination rooms.

“This space was originally built for Dr. Nancy Starr, a pediatric urologist who has kind of become a mentor for me,” she says. “It’s been unoccupied since her practice was bought out by Providence, but she and her husband Jeff offered it to us because they wanted to see pediatrics come back to the space.”

Grandinetti says her goal for the practice is to provide a personal approach to children’s health and well-being. She says that as an intentionally small practice, Spokane Pediatrics is designed so its patients won’t see a revolving door of practitioners but will instead build relationships with a small staff.

“I left a large institution to open this kind of practice, an old-school, small setting, where you know your patients well and they know you and your staff,” she says.

Grandinetti attended Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, in Chicago. She completed her pediatric residency at Oregon Health and Science University Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, in Portland, Ore.

Resleff went to the WSU College of Nursing, formerly Intercollegiate College of Nursing, where she received both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in nursing.
