Filling Station on 5th plans Post Falls restaurant

Staff Report

The Filling Station on 5th, a popular gastropub in downtown Coeur d’Alene, plans to open a second location at 306 N. Spokane Street in Post Falls.

Filling Station co-owner Justin Carpenter says the new restaurant will be in a 1,500-square-foot leased space in the Milltown Center strip mall.

He says the space is currently undergoing a remodel and he anticipates the restaurant will open in November.

“We saw the need for more good beer spots in Post Falls, so we’re working to create another awesome craft beer place with good pub food,” he says.

Carpenter says the new restaurant will be called The Filling Station Post Falls and will need about 10 employees.

The restaurant will have a slightly different menu and fewer beers on tap than its Coeur d’Alene sister pub.

“We’ll have about 30 taps and a food menu that includes some old favorites but also some new stuff,” he says. “The Post Falls restaurant will have the same great food and local craft beer; we’re just sharing the things we love with more people.”

The current Filling Station restaurant, at 501 E. Sherman, opened just over three years ago and currently has 15 employees. Carpenter co-owns the business with his father, Keith Carpenter, and his uncle, Jason Rex. Rex also owns the Collective Kitchen restaurant next door to the Filling Station.
