Bargain store chain to debut on North Division

Dollar Cents outlet will open doors next month

August 17, 2017

New Spokane-based company Crafters LLC plans to launch a dollar retail-store chain to do business as Dollar Cents.

The company will focus initially on establishing Dollar Cents outlets in the Spokane area, says Crafters owner Richard Erving.

The first Dollar Cents store will occupy 9,300 square feet of leased space in the Division Street Square retail center, at 3609 N. Division, Erving says.

Northwest Real Estate Equities LLC, of Spokane, which does business as NRE, negotiated the lease.

Erving says he plans to open the store in September.

“Dollar Cents is the first of many locations coming,” he says. “I’m going to open this one first and more in the area every six months.”

He adds that he’s looking for potential locations for future Dollar Cents outlets at sites that are at least two miles away from other dollar stores.

Each store will have at least one manager and about 10 employees, Erving says.

Dollar Cents will buy items from the same vendors that supply the big Dollar Tree national chain, he says.

Chesapeake, Va.-based Dollar Tree Inc. has 13,600 stores, 11 of which are in the Spokane area, including a 9,000-square-foot Dollar Tree outlet that opened last year at the Hayford Crossing retail plaza on the West Plains.
