Rudeen Development to add 221 rental units at Blue Point

Wandermere-area project valued at $21.4 million

January 19, 2017
Mike McLean

Rudeen Development LLC has obtained building permits to construct a $21.4 million, 221-unit second phase of the Blue Point Apartments complex north of Spokane in the Wandermere area, Spokane County building permit records show.

An executive for the Liberty Lake-based development company couldn’t be reached immediately for comment about the project.

The project site is on an 11-acre parcel of land at 15001 N. Wandermere Road, a quarter-mile south of Hatch Road, and is bordered by U.S. 395 to the west and Wandermere Road to the east.

Building permits recently issued by Spokane County include 18 apartment structures. Nine three-story structures will have 12 to 24 living units, and nine two-story structures will have six to 10 units, permit application information shows.

The property owner is listed in Spokane County Assessor’s records as Blue Point Apartments LLC, a Rudeen affiliate. The parcel borders the south side of a 6-acre parcel where Rudeen recently constructed the $9.9 million, 99-unit initial phase of Blue Point Apartments.

Spokane County Assessor’s records show Blue Point Apartments bought both parcels in 2014. Separate previous owners had planned to develop the parcels as a senior living complex in 2010, and as a residential and mixed-use project in 2007.

Apartments in the initial phase of the Blue Point Apartments complex range in size from 560-square-foot studio units to 1,200-square-foot, three-bedroom units, and monthly rents range from $675 to $1,175.
