Staff Report

The Central Valley School District board earlier this month approved schematic design work for the last three of six major projects it has on the drawing boards.

Clockwise from upper left, some of the planned major projects and the architectural firms that designed them include a $20.9 million renovation and expansion of Greenacres Elementary School (Architects West Inc.), an $18.9 million renovation and expansion of Chester Elementary School (Architects West), the $21.2 million construction of a new Liberty Lake elementary school for K-2 students (MMEC Architecture & Interiors); a $21 million renovation and expansion of Opportunity Elementary School (ALSC Architects PS); and a $20.7 million expansion and renovation of Sunrise Elementary School (ALSC).

Also planned (see rendering on section cover) is a $31.3 million renovation and expansion of Evergreen Middle School, designed by ALSC, and an $18.4 million renovation and expansion of Ponderosa Elementary School.

CVSD expects to seek bids for the Liberty Lake project in November and to break ground on it in December. Construction is expected to begin next year and to be completed the following year on all except Ponderosa. Construction of that project is to start in mid-2017 and to be completed in August 2018.
