Ace Hardware store to be constructed in Liberty Lake

15K-square-foot retail building, garden center envisioned, plans show

November 18, 2021

An Ace Hardware will be developed on a 2-acre vacant lot at 1425 N. Liberty Lake Road, in Liberty Lake, permit applications show.

Preliminary site plans filed with the city of Liberty Lake show a 15,000-square-foot retail building with a garden center to be constructed on a 92,000-square-foot lot.

The site is located south of Interstate 90 and north of Yoke’s Fresh Market grocery store, at 1233 N. Liberty Lake Road, in Liberty Lake. The site is designated as within the city’s central business district and is zoned for mixed uses. The store will be accessed from Liberty Lake Road, according to the permit application for the project.

Sierra Developments LLC, of Spokane, owns the property. Yost Gallagher Construction LLC, of Spokane, is the contractor for the project, and Russell C. Page Architects PS, of Spokane, designed it.

Permit application information shows construction was expected to begin in September and wrap up in January, however, site work hadn’t begun as of Nov. 10.

Debbie Cozzetto, of Vandervert Hospitality Inc., which is affiliated with Sierra Developments, declines to disclose a construction value estimate for the project.

Cozzetto says the Liberty Lake hardware store will be affiliated with longtime Spokane-based retailer The General Store.

A representative of The General Store couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

Nearby businesses at the site include a MultiCare Indigo Urgent Care center and a Washington Trust Bank branch.

The Liberty Lake Ace Hardware project will be the third location affiliated with The General Store, which also operates stores at 2424 N. Division, in Spokane, and The General Store Outpost, at 1330 N. Argonne Road, in Spokane Valley.
