Spokane-based Vista Title & Escrow LLC has bought Stevens County Title Co., in Colville, Washington, in an acquisition that will expand Vista’s services and service area.

Vista Title CEO Anthony Carollo says the company will own 100% of the assets of Stevens County Title, including the furniture, equipment, and the title plant, once the transaction is complete. Carollo estimates that will happen around Nov. 1.

Stevens County Title operates from a 4,000-square-foot escrow and closing office, in addition to a 3,000-square-foot title plant, which also holds its contract servicing department.

A title plant is a set of records detailing land rights and claims for each tract and parcel of land that date back to the beginning of Washington state’s statehood in 1889. 

Stevens County Title has 20 employees. Those employees will join the 50 employees who currently work for Vista Title in Spokane County.

Wayne Bell, president of Stevens County Title, says he doesn’t think any Stevens County Title employees will be reshuffled or change responsibilities after the acquisition.

“It’ll be business as usual for employees,” he says. 

Stevens County Title was founded in 1891. Its escrow office is located at 100 E. Birch, which is across Birch Avenue from its title plant, at 280 S. Oak Street. 

Vista Title & Escrow first opened in 2017 after purchasing assets from Stewart Title. The company has two branches. One is at 201 W. North River Drive, in downtown Spokane, and the other is at 6519 N. Maple, about one block north of Francis Avenue, on Spokane’s North Side.
