After searching for a new headquarters facility for 1 1/2 years, Servpro of Spokane County is moving into the former Western States Equipment Co. site at 4625 E. Trent, in East Spokane, says Jess Hockett, director of sales and marketing at Servpro.

Steve and Brandy Knight are the co-owners of Performance Restoration Inc., which does business as Servpro of Spokane County. The company is a franchisee of the Gallatin, Tennessee-based Servpro and offers full-service cleaning, restoration, and construction services that serve both residential and commercial customers.

The Knights purchased the property from Meridian, Idaho-based Western States Equipment Co. for $5 million at the end of last year through their Colville, Washington-based entity, S&B Trent LLC.

The new headquarters site is situated on 7.5 acres of land with five buildings that have a total of 60,000 square feet of warehouse and office space.

He says the size of the property will allow the company to expand in the future.

“We were bursting at the seams,” says Hockett. “What made this location particularly attractive was the square footage and different building sizes … and the amount of land.”

With the addition of the Trent site, Servpro now has five total facilities, three of which are dispatch centers.

The company will continue to operate a dispatch center in Deer Park, where its headquarters were located before the move to the Trent site, Hockett says. The company’s other facilities are located at 1028 W. Rosewood, on Spokane’s North Side; at 5402 N. Julia, in Spokane’s Hillyard neighborhood; and at 23505 E. Appleway, in Liberty Lake.

Hockett says the move has enabled the company to consolidate the majority of its staff and departments at a centralized location.

He adds, “There’s really not the risk of outgrowing this facility like we have at our other facility.”

The Trent facility’s main building is a two-story, 41,000-square-foot structure that will house Servpro’s administrative, sales, and flood-mitigation departments. A maintenance shop and garage for the company’s 60-plus-vehicle fleet also is in the main building. The site also has a 12,000-square-foot building for its cleaning and contents department, and 7,500 square feet of warehouse space for its construction department.

Tenant improvements will be performed by the owners and are underway to update the exterior with a new security fence. Additional exterior renovations planned include paint, signage to be installed by Ramsay Signs Spokane, and eventually paving over dirt lots, Hockett says.

Interior work will consist of cleaning and updating administrative areas, adding and organizing equipment and storage spaces, and the installation of an Esporta Wash System and other machines used in the cleaning and restoration process.

The Esporta is capable of restoring over 90% of soft contents to U.S. Department of Agriculture cleanliness standards, he claims.

“Even if something had been sitting in sewage, we could put it in this cleaning system and it restores it to USDA food-grade clean,” says Hockett.

The main building at the Trent site also has two training rooms that can accommodate over 100 people and where Servpro will conduct both internal compliance and safety meetings and continuing education classes for insurance agents.

Hockett says Servpro has about 60 employees, with dozens of open positions for cleaning, construction, and mitigation technicians.

Servpro of Spokane County is comprised of four franchise territories the Knights purchased from separate owners over the last 11 years, explains Hockett.

Their first franchise operation, Servpro of Northwest Spokane, was purchased in 2012, followed by Servpro of South & West Spokane County in 2017, Servpro of the Spokane Valley in 2018, and the most recent purchase of Servpro of Northeast Spokane, last March.

Hockett says the company serves businesses and households as far away as Ritzville, Washington, to the west; the Idaho state line to the east; the Canadian border to the north; and the Clarkston, Washington, area to the south.

Servpro provides cleaning and restoration services for properties damaged by storms, water, and fire, in addition to mold removal and remediation, and construction services, says Hockett. 

Annual revenue is now between $12 million and $15 million, he says.

Hockett says the company’s revenue was boosted by the pandemic because Servpro was deemed an essential business and helped health care and medical settings, government buildings, school districts, and others.
