Spokane-based Golden Rule Brake is expected to open its fifth and largest location in August. The store currently operates three in Spokane and one in Post Falls.
| Tina SulzleSpokane-based vehicle brake and suspension repair shop Golden Rule Brake and Memphis, Tennessee-based AutoZone Parts Inc. both are planning new facilities in Kootenai County valued at a combined construction cost of $3.4 million.
“We just love the people of North Idaho and are excited to serve them,” says Dallas Low, owner of Golden Rule Brake, a trade name for Evident 316 Inc. “The opportunity with the population density is there. As long as we keep pulling from towns up north, I think we will be plenty busy.”
Low says construction on the new Golden Rule Brake shop, located at 3637 N. Government Way in Coeur d’Alene, began in fall 2025. Ginno Construction Co., of Coeur d’Alene, is the contractor on the $2.1 million project, he says. Paul Harrington, of Spokane-based ROMR Architects, is designing the new building.
Low says he expects the new shop will open in August.
Golden Rule Brake expanded into Idaho in 2023 with the opening of its fourth location ,at 3826 E. Seltice Way, in Post Falls, according to the company's website. The company also operates locations at 815 N. Pines, in Spokane Valley; 625 N. Monroe, near downtown Spokane; and 815 E. Francis, in North Spokane.
The new facility in Coeur d’Alene will be the largest of the company’s five locations, Low contends.
“Post Falls is seven bays, and this one will be 12 bays,” he says.
Looking ahead, Low says he and his son Jeremiah Low, are also looking to expand into Liberty Lake and Airway Heights.
A separate development in Kooentai County is planned for national automotive parts and accessories retailer AutoZone at the southwest corner of U.S. Route 95 and Dakota Avenue, at 410 W. Dakota, in Hayden, according to permit information on file with the city.
The estimated construction cost for the new 7,000-square-foot building is $1.3 million.
Texas-based Triad Retail Construction Inc. is the general contractor on the project, and AutoZone Development is designing the building. Liberty Lake-based Michael Terrell Landscape Architecture PLLC is serving as the landscape architect, according to permit information.
