Animal Emergency Clinic, a new after-hours emergency veterinary clinic, has opened in the former TLC Veterinary Clinic space at 6522 E. First, in west Spokane Valley.

Michael O’Dea says he bought TLC Veterinary Clinic, a daytime practice, in June. He decided to operate the practice only at nights and on weekends and renamed it to reflect the change.

Animal Emergency Clinic, which opened Oct. 1, is a registered trade name of O’Dea Veterinary Services PS.

The clinic is open 6 p.m.-8 a.m. on weeknights and offers round-the-clock services from 6 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. on Monday.

“We augment the daytime practices … when they’re closed, we’re open,” O’Dea says.

O’Dea previously worked at Pet Emergency Clinic for 17 years before leaving in May to buy and operate TLC Veterinary Clinic. 

O’Dea and his wife, Kendra, also bought the 12,000-square-foot building, 2,500 square feet of which is occupied by Animal Emergency Clinic. Other tenants of the building are Pawsitive Connection Dog Training and Edgecliff Baptist Church; O’Dea says some upstairs space is available for new tenants. The building was once a warehouse for now-defunct department store Two Swabbies, he says.

Animal Emergency Clinic has 19 employees, including three veterinarians and six licensed veterinary technicians.
