Wanderlust Delicato coming to Spokane

A newly created artisan cheese, wine, and charcuterie shop called Wanderlust Delicato is taking shape in the former Wollnick’s General Store space, at 421 W. Main downtown.

Business owner Amber Park says the shop will be “...a foodie destination.”

Park is from the Okanogan, Washington, area, but has been a part of the Spokane food and wine scene for over 20 years. She says the idea for Wanderlust came from her love for travel and foods that are specific to certain destinations.

“Terroir, culture, and history all shape the way food is made and preserved,” she says.

She says Wanderlust will occupy a 2,200-square-foot leased space, which is being remodeled to include a customer seating area, deli counter, retail space, and an 800-square-foot teaching kitchen.

“My husband owns Fix it Guy Handyman Services and is the general contractor for the remodel,” she says. “We’re planning to open the deli by mid-June and the teaching kitchen sometime in August.”

Park says the deli will offer a selection of cheese, specialty cured or smoked meats, seasonal cheese dishes, and Euro-style sandwiches. She also plans to stock both locally produced products and classic imports, such as Serrano Jamon, and Prosciutto De Parma.

Guests can enjoy their food in the deli’s seating area or have their selections cut and wrapped to go. The business also will sell platters for parties, and custom platters can be made to order with 24-hour advanced notice.

Park says the teaching kitchen will feature a rotating schedule of instructors, including chefs, farmers, and others who want to share their techniques and recipes in hands-on cooking classes.

She says Wanderlust will start out with three to four employees, and its chef instructors will be paid per class they teach.
