$11.5 million Secure It Self Storage facility slated in Spokane Valley

Development to have eight buildings in all

October 11, 2018

Spokane development company Lanzce G. Douglass Inc. has obtained building permits for a new Secure It Self Storage facility at 15702 E. Broadway, with a total construction value of $11.5 million, records from the city of Spokane Valley show.

Building permit information shows eight buildings with a total of 131,400 square feet of floor space are planned for the site, with the structures ranging in size from 6,000 square feet to 34,200 square feet.

Douglass Properties LLC, of Spokane, is the project owner. Lanzce G. Douglass Inc. is the contractor on the project, and Russell C. Page Architects PS, also of Spokane, designed it.

Representatives for the architect and contractor couldn’t be reached immediately for comment and declined to comment, respectively. A construction timeline isn’t provided in the permits.

Secure It Self Storage has six locations in Spokane County and one in Tacoma, Wash., its website indicates. The company offers storage units ranging from 25 square feet to 300 square feet.

The storage facility is one of dozens of such facilities built or expanded in recent years in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area.

Last year, through November, Spokane and Kootenai counties and cities within them issued 46 permits for storage facility construction and expansion. Those permits totaled $14.1 million, up nearly $4.5 million, in inflation-adjusted terms, from the previous peak in 2008, according to data compiled by Spokane-based Avista Corp. from Utah-based Construction Monitor for an earlier Journal report.
