NYC Piano Bar to open in Coeur d'Alene

A new restaurant and piano bar, called NYC Piano Bar, is scheduled to open today in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

The business will be located in a 4,200-square-foot leased space at 313 E. Sherman, which is known for having housed Jimmy D’s restaurant and wine cellar, but more recently was home to an office for drone manufacturer xCraft Enterprises Inc.

NYC Piano Bar LLC is co-owned by Coeur d’Alene couple Dan and Nika Schnatter, former New Yorkers who have lived in the area for five years.

“It’s a beautiful area that’s really growing,” says Schnatter. “It gets a lot of tourist traffic, and I’m predicting in the next few years downtown venues like this will be hard to come by.”

Schnatter says the couple had the assistance of several local contractors in updating the space’s plumbing and electrical outlets, but otherwise completed most of the lighter remodeling and furnishing work on their own.

The restaurant will feature a casual dining menu and a staff of 10 to 12 employees, Schnatter says.

“I’ll be the main piano performer, but we’ll also be hosting dueling pianos and other musical talent throughout the week,” he says.
