Spokane Pottery Supply fires up in Valley

-

March 1, 2018

A new pottery supply store has opened at 9405 E. Sprague, in the Behm’s Center strip mall in Spokane Valley.

Store owner Kyle Patterson is a local pottery instructor who says he’s been working with ceramics for the past 24 years.

Patterson says his new studio, called Spokane Pottery Supply, occupies a previously vacant, 2,000-square-foot retail and studio space, which he’s leasing from the strip mall’s owner, Ken Behm.

“I spent just over a month working with a friend of mine to remodel the studio and customize it a bit to meet our needs,” he says.

Patterson says the business, which opened Feb. 17, sells pottery supplies like clay, glaze, and crafting tools. It also hosts classes, workshops, and private parties.

“I’d been working at another area studio, but I felt like it was time to branch out on my own,” he says. “Ceramics are my passion, and I really feel like there’s a big need here for more studios.”

Although he’s currently the business’s only employee, Patterson says eventually he plans to hire more ceramics instructors and host more classes.

“I’m interested in finding ways to promote art and integrate our business into the community,” he says. “I’d really like to see us collaborating with other businesses, charities, and nonprofits on shared events and art shows.”
