The city of Spokane Valley has issued a permit for an industrial building project valued at $1.7 million at 4510 N. Barker Road.

Building permit records describe the project as a new 15,000-square-foot metal building with a 1,600-square-foot mezzanine.

The permit says the intended use for the structure will be “RV renovation.”

Mead-based LC Eagle LLC is listed as the project owner. LC Eagle bought the property in March for $300,000, separate real estate records show.

The building permit applicant and general contractor for the project is Pro Builders General Contractors LLC, which couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

The project site is located near the southeast corner of Barker Road and Trent Avenue, next to the Valley distribution and sales office of Lynnwood, Wash.-based building products supplier Vandermeer Forest Products Inc.

The site is part of an 800-acre, mostly undeveloped industrial area that the city of Spokane Valley is targeting for infrastructure improvements to attract economic development.

Within that area, about a half-mile southwest of the LC Eagle project site, Menlo Park, Calif.-based design-build contractor and manufacturer Katerra Inc. in October bought for $5.3 million 55 acres of land, where it plans to build a 250,000-square-foot factory to produce mass timber products.

Adjacent to the Katerra site, Albertville Ala.-based locomotive manufacturer Progress Rail Services Corp. had earlier purchased for $3.2 million a 39-acre site. Progress Rail, a subsidiary of Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar Inc., hasn’t announced plans yet.

Both Katerra and Progress Rail bought their Valley properties from Centennial Properties Inc., a subsidiary of Spokane-based Cowles Co., which owns the Journal of Business.
