$1.5 million townhome project starts in U-District

Six-unit building near GU to be finished next June

December 3, 2015

Quality K2R LLC, of, Spokane, which is owned by builder Greg Kuntz and his wife, Celeste, is developing a $1.5 million apartment building, named A Stones Throw Townhouses, at 815 E. Sharp, in Spokane’s University District.

Greg Kuntz says the building will include six units in one, 10,500-square-foot building. Each unit will have about 1,800 square feet of floor space, with four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, he says.

The developer broke ground on the project in mid-October, and expects to complete it next June, he says. Project architect and engineer are Christopher Morlan Architect PLLC and Hahn Engineering Inc., respectively.

Celeste Kuntz says the building will be about an eighth of a mile away from Gonzaga University, near Pita Pit and Starbucks outlets, a “stone’s throw” from campus.

The target market is Gonzaga students, particularly those without vehicles. Four parking spots and street parking are available, though the street spots fill quickly in the morning, Kuntz says.

All six townhomes already have been leased, she says.

One reason the Kuntzs chose to build and lease out A Stones Throw Townhomes is because the couple wanted to provide quality housing for students, she says. “We provide the same kind of housing that you would want in your own house but at an affordable price. Our rent is the same as if you were renting any other house down here, and we don’t raise the rent.”

Greg and Celeste Kuntz say they are Quality K2R LLC’s only employees. However, nine or 10 subcontractors and one to two other companies are working on the Gonzaga-area project, they say.
