Plans for Spokane's second Chick-fil-A advance

A proposal for a Chick-fil-A restaurant at the southeast corner of Ruby Street and Mission Avenue passes environmental muster, according to a review by the city of Spokane resulting in a determination of nonsignificance.

A spokesperson for Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A declines to confirm the new location, however, a State Environmental Policy Act, or SEPA, checklist shows plans calling for the construction of a drive-thru Chick-fil-A restaurant on a roughly 1.6-acre site.

The proposed site spans eight lots east of Ruby and between Mission and Sinto avenues, all of which are owned by Alvco LLC, according to Spokane County records.

San Diego-based 4G Development & Consulting Inc. is listed as the applicant on the environmental documents.

According to the SEPA checklist, the plan is to pull permits and break ground at the site as soon as the environmental review is complete.

No new permit activity is listed on the city of Spokane website as of Jan. 9, but a site plan filed with the SEPA review shows a 5,000-square-foot structure with two drive-thru lanes and about 90 parking spaces.

Site entrances will be located on both Mission and Sinto avenues, the plans show.

Plans for the chicken-centered fast-food restaurant became known in August 2023, when a predevelopment conference application was submitted to the city.

That application listed the estimated cost of the project at $2.1 million.

According to the SEPA checklist, the proposed restaurant will employ a mix of about 75 full-time and part-time employees.

The proposed restaurant will be the second Chick-fil-A establishment in Spokane. The first opened in December 2020, at 9304 N. Newport Highway.

An additional Chick-fil-A restaurant was proposed in 2022 on Spokane's South Hill, at the southwest corner of 29th Avenue and Regal Street, but zoning restrictions reportedly stymied that proposal.
