Heritage Bar & Kitchen planned in downtown Spokane

A new restaurant and bar called Heritage Bar & Kitchen is slated to open this spring in what was formerly the Texas True BBQ space at 122 S. Monroe.

Co-owners Gabe Wood and Alex King say they plan to open the restaurant in the 1,350-square-foot space, which is located in the same building as Whistle Punk Brewing, just south of the Montvale Hotel.

Wood says he and King currently are working to remodel the space, which they’re leasing through RenCorp Realty.

“Together, we have 20 years of combined experience in the restaurant industry, but this will be the first business we’ve owned and operated on our own,” he says. “There isn’t too much work to be done, but we are hoping to convert this into more of a pub-style space.”

Wood says the business will likely hire eight employees to start and plans a soft opening in May.

He says the restaurant’s menu is still being worked out but is planned to feature classic American pub dishes, with some twists.

“Some items will be made from family recipes or other unique styles to help make them our own,” he says. “We’ll also have a full bar, in addition to eight to 10 beer taps.”

Wood says guests also will be allowed to take their food from Heritage Bar & Kitchen to the neighboring Whistle Punk Brewing.

“Over time, we hope to continue to work more with Whistle Punk to make sure our two spaces allow customers to flow back and forth a bit,” he says.
