No Drought Brewing to open in Spokane Valley

A taproom will soon occupy a long-vacant commercial space in Spokane Valley, near the Dishman Hills Natural Area.

No Drought Brewing Co. is remodeling the 2,000-square-foot space at 10604 E. 16th and plans to open its doors in December, says Damon Netz, owner, founder, and head brewer.

Netz says the space has been vacant for several years, and previously has hosted a convenience store, a cafe, and a barber shop.

No Drought Brewing was founded in 2018.

"We were distribution-only for a couple of years, and pretty limited," Netz says. "We were brewing on a small, one-barrel system, though I've done a couple of batches down at the Steel Barrel Incubator on its seven-barrel system."

Netz says he's been focusing on German-style beers. Brews featured in the taproom will include altbier, Kolsch, Berliner Weisse, hefeweizen, and doppelbock varieties. One of No Drought's 16 taps will be dedicated to kombucha from local brewer Zen Zymurgist LLC. Kombucha is a slightly bubbly beverage made by fermenting tea with bacteria, yeast, and sugar.

The taproom won't offer food, but customers will be welcome to bring outside food, Netz says. No Drought will be located in the same building as Northwest Pizza Co. Netz says it's a symbiotic situation, as Northwest Pizza doesn't have seating available.

No Drought's taproom will be open Tuesday through Saturday. Netz says hours likely will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 3-9 p.m. Friday, and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday.
