Construction is underway on a fifth building at The Renaissance at Coeur d’Alene assisted-living community at 2772 W. Avante Loop, in Coeur d’Alene, says Jodi Guffee, chief operating officer and co-owner of Portland, Ore.-based Radiant Senior Living, which recently acquired the facility.

The building, which Guffee calls a chateau, will have the capacity to accommodate 16 residents and include a total of about 7,300 square feet of living space. It will bring the total number of beds at The Renaissance up to 80.

Construction is expected to be completed in January. Glauser Construction, of Post Falls, is the contractor on the project, and Radiant Senior Living’s in-house architect designed it, Guffee says.

Radiant Senior Living operates 20 other retirement communities in western Washington, Oregon, Montana, Colorado, and Nevada, according to the company website.

The company acquired The Renaissance in July from private owners, says Guffee, who declines to disclose terms of the transaction. Previous owners were Ron and Valeri Glauser and Fred and Mindy Weber, who owned the complex through their Post Falls-based holding company, Riverside Land Holdings LLC.

Early last year, the Journal of Business first reported the Glausers were among an ownership group that had submitted a predevelopment application to explore the potential to develop a site on Spokane’s South Hill into a 64-bed assisted living complex.

That site, located at 4515 S. Freya, currently is being developed by a separate company, Yakima-based Cascadia Senior Living LLC, which is erecting the $12.5 million, 60-bed Fieldstone Memory Care assisted-living facility. Fieldstone will serve residents who have dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease, as well as people with Parkinson’s disease.

Construction at the Fieldstone project is expected to be completed next summer.
