New Taco Bell restaurant in the works at Five Mile, records say

Plans indicate pizzeria could be displaced

February 15, 2018

A new Taco Bell is in the works at 6404 N. Ash, and preliminary site plans submitted to the city of Spokane suggest it would displace the longstanding Five Mile Heights Pizza Parlor building, at 6409 N. Maple, a predevelopment application with the city of Spokane indicates.

The one-story building would include nearly 2,600 square feet of floor space, including a nearly 800-square-foot dining room and 1,000-square-foot kitchen, the application shows. The project value is estimated at $660,000 on the application.

Missoula, Mont.-based CLC Restaurants Inc. is listed as the owner, and Legends Studio Inc., of Bozeman, Mont., is listed as the architect.

CLC Restaurants decline to comment on the project.

A predevelopment application marks the beginning of the city’s planning process for project proposals.

The Spokane County Assessor’s office lists 5-Mile Investment Co., which is managed by Stejer Development LLC, as the owner of the parcel Five Mile Heights Pizza Parlor currently occupies.

John Stejer, president of Stejer Development, says nothing’s set in stone yet and declines to comment further.

Taco Bell and its franchises run almost 6,500 restaurants in America, the website of its parent company, Louisville, Ky.-based Yum! Brands Inc., indicates. Yum! also owns Pizza Hut and KFC.

About 10 Taco Bell locations are located in the Spokane area.

The 9,600-square-foot Five Mile Heights Pizza Parlor building was built in 1973, and the structure has a taxable value of $547,900 for current tax year, Assessor’s records show.

Nearby businesses include The Urban Canine Inc., 911 Driving School, Rosauers Supermarkets Inc., and Jo-Ann Stores LLC.
